Cattools: Did not receive an echo of command

When using cattools’ “Send.Commands” job to a Riverbed Steelhead device you may get an error like:

Did not receive an echo of <command> command

I’d not previously had issues with doing the same thing on Riverbeds but the command I was sending this time was quite long. After a bit of tinkering I discovered adding this command to the script fixed the issue:

terminal width 1024

So the script now became

config t
 terminal width 1024
 <rest of the commands>

1024 is the maximum width allowed on the Riverbed. Interestingly pasting the command into a putty session worked fine so obviously this is something strange going on with cattools.

Anyway, the script now worked and the command echo was received.
